Cost & Pricing

How much does it cost to charter a private jet?

There's no single number — but there is a real, transparent way to break down how the number gets calculated, instead of a vague “it depends.” Aircraft category and flight time drive almost all of it.

What actually drives the price

  • Aircraft category — a larger, faster aircraft costs more per hour to operate, full stop. Every category's hourly rate is broken down here.
  • Flight time, not distance alone — pricing is calculated by hours in the air, which is why two routes of similar mileage can price differently depending on headwinds, routing, and aircraft speed.
  • Trip type — round trip typically costs less than exactly double a one-way fare, since the aircraft doesn't have to reposition empty for the return leg.
  • Taxes and fees — a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax applies to domestic flights, on top of the base fare.
  • Broker fee — disclosed upfront as 5–15% depending on trip complexity, never buried in a lump sum you can't break down.

Real price ranges by category (one-way)

Turboprop / Very Light Jet$4,000–$9,000
Light Jet$9,000–$20,000
Midsize Jet$18,000–$35,000
Super Midsize$28,000–$55,000
Heavy Jet$55,000–$120,000+
Ultra-Long RangeQuoted per trip

Ultra-long-range trips are quoted individually — route and cabin configuration vary too widely at this end for a fixed band.

In practice, most Levity charters start around $10,000 — even when a category's published range begins lower, very short trips may fall below what we're able to book.

The number on your quote should cover everything known at the time of booking — with only day-of variables, like de-icing, unexpected customs holds, or optional inflight WiFi usage, arriving afterwards as a separate final invoice. If a broker can't explain exactly what's in it, that's the actual problem — not the price itself.
